I really enjoyed the core of the story and the acting was great, but I never got hit emotionally in the same way most people did. Not sure what that's about. I had some trouble with the diegesis; I was never clear on how much time had passed. Maybe that was intentional? I don't know. I liked the punk shirts because I am punk.

Top-tier Danny Boyle. It’s thoughtful, scary, and I love that the whole story hinges on human error, someone simply forgetting to do something simple. It gets a little disjointed toward the end, maybe intentionally so, but if you can ignore some dumb logic problems (surviving the vacuum of space by wrapping yourself in foil and closing your eyes) the movie whips ass.

Kelly Reichardt is absolutely untouchable at this kind of thing. She’s always had a way of shooting small moments in nature that punches me in the gut, but I think this is her best looking movie by far and the landscape of western Montana obviously doesn’t hurt.
