Spent the whole movie trying to think of a funny Karl Urban/Billy Butcher one-liner and ended up thinking of absolutely nothing AND not knowing what the fuck is happening in the movie.
Absolutely fabulous. Score and atmosphere are eerie and I think De Niro really shines. Scorcese and Schrader have created a character, an idea of a man that is so prominent today. The scariest part of Travis, is that he is a regular person. You walk past Travis on the street, you sit next to him on the bus, you may live with him, hell, you might even be him. An absolute classic of a picture. This is such a rich story with incredibly written and complex characters, played by fantastic actors. There’s so many great monologues from Joe Gillis and Gloria plays a ‘passé’ film star so elegantly and so sad. Her way of speech, her mannerisms, her actions, and emotions are so mesmerizing and moving.

Definitely the most disappointing movie of the year. With a cast this stacked, getting this monstrosity of a film is absurd. The dialogue was awful, half the actors didn’t want to be there, it’s so incredibly boring. The performances, especially the ones by Rami Malek and John David Washington, we’re so laughable.
