If you like old anime movies, this is the one to watch. I love this movie, it can described as badass, and the setting is a beautiful representation of edo-period Japan. The characters are all likable (some are good to hate, like the rapist rock guy "tessai"). The ending with gold ship melting was awesome. Pineapple Express 2008
Out of the stoner comedies Pineapple Express must be one of the best ones out there, the mystery aspect is executed very well, and the movie is hilarious. The misadventures bring joy and escape from the real stoner's life (I'm not a stoner). The climax is peak excitement, which somehow surpasses the rest of the crazy hijinks. Overall this is a favorite comfort film of mine.
