Cinema peaked when the little kid in Shrek 4: Shrek Forever After said “DO THE ROAR 👹”
I’m still chasing that feeling.
Hoooooly shit. The way this movie ends is such a brilliant piece of writing. The score, the pacing, the performances, and the cinematography all fantastic. No notes.
I think the dream/stage-like overly stylized treatment wasn’t always landing for me but I appreciate the tie-in it provided with the theme of his missing memory. And it’s a really interesting premise - without our memories will we be who we want to be or who others tell us we were?
At times it felt a bit aimless, rolling purely off of vibes but I did enjoy it overall. Mainly because André Holland’s continuing to cook. I suspect without him, this probably would’ve felt more like Bubble and Squeak from Sundance earlier this year.
