The entire time I thought "they wouldn't mention a cult unless it's important." But NOPE. There is no deeper plot at play. Pointless movie only somewhat saved by its comedic moments.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
So much was crammed into this that every "emotional" moment was so rushed it lost all depth. I'm all for absurdist nonsense but there needs to be at least a shred of lore or worldbuilding to make it feel cohesive, and there was none of that in this movie. It just dragged and left so many things unanswered that I ended up incredibly frustrated. The ending was abrupt af too
