  Mads stares at nothing a lot.
  There's a mean Sherrif of Nottingham for us all to boo and a makeshift family for us all to love made up of another man's wife and a cute little girl termed "the darkling".
  There is a twist but neither this nor the gratuitous violence is able to elevate this rather predictable film.

  A gruelling watch. I feel the shame of the boy and the dread of the dad. Drugs, are bad.

  Actors acting. A husband and wife with three children gambol, dance and kiss as if there is no work to do.
  The village Nazis are, of course compared with today's euro magas.
  It drags on. It's inexplicably in English.

  There's a pub called the Volunteer. It's on Baker Street.
  I can't remember who it is but Noel Coward or Larry Olivier have a cameo where they look in a window and pull a funny face and that's it.
  If actors now acted and spoke in war films like they did In the 1940s everyone would think the film was barmy.
