I loved it. 😍 The added runtime is a great call—it straight-up fixes the biggest issue with the stage musical, which is that its ambitious scope (and resulting breathless pace) sometimes leaves the characters and their decisions feeling underdeveloped.
The choice to split into two movies at intermission, while perhaps unavoidable, does make me a little nervous about what comes next. Act 2 has fewer standout songs and an even-more-underwritten book and I worry about it sticking the landing at…
