Watching this film - with all its under water scenes - in a cinema in 3D is fantastic.

I knew this would be the best movie experience of the year. And it was, and it will be. Watching this with a rowdy crowd of 300 fellow movie maniacs in Prince Charles cinema at Sci-Fi-London was simply amazing and unforgettable. Even the end credits were cheered.

The title and poster made me think this is some kind of sexploitation movie but that's probably just a dirty mind's wishful thinking. The girls in the poster are indeed in the movie but the title would better be The Dying Barmaids instead because there's more violence than sleaze in the movie. The killer is known from the start and he's quite a psycho. He, his kills and how the violence is shot are what make this movie worth your while.

    Room 36

    ★★★★

Low budget British thriller/crime noir/comedy that plays in a cheap sleazy hotel where a criminal transaction goes wrong because of switched room numbers. Clever story, good script and acting. Beautifully shot in black & white.

I thought this was going to be a documentary about arranged marriages in Vietnam. In fact it is, in a way, but in a Hmong-way (Hmong are an ethnic minority in north Vietnam). It is not 'arranged' as you might think. But more an 'accepted' way in the Hmong culture to 'kidnap' girls as brides. And to see this actually happen in front of your eyes (on screen) is just shocking. The way this documentary is set up enhances that experience. At least it did for me, and it was terrible to see.
