  I liked the first 2/3rds of this quite a bit but I felt like the pacing slowed to a crawl when they got to Big Tuna. The radio and car crash scenes were excellent. Rating might go up on a rewatch.

  With that mustache I couldn't stop thinking about Eggman. Still though this movie does a great job at building tension and atmosphere but it kind of ruins some of it by cutting between characters and locals so much.

  The first ten minutes or so of this movie is like those twitter accounts that just post pics of all the Ghibli food but directed by Kore-eda so you know this movie will be amazing.

  This movie just hit for me on all fronts. While I haven’t seen many Godzilla movies this is the first one where I was scared whenever he was on screen instead of cheering for the funny big lizard to smash stuff. His attack on the city is truly harrowing, especially the build up to the atomic breath and the shot of him looking up afterwards. This is thanks to the characters, having the main character be a traumatized kamikaze pilot…
