Any movie could become a cult classic if it had an atmosphere this good, yet that is not even half of the experience that Shutter Island offered. The story is mind-blowing with intellectual twists and turns and the film's overruning theme - to live as a monster or to die as a good man - is explored to its absolute utmost. The horror is done subtlely but very effective, conceptually one of the best in the genre. A very under-appreciated Scorsese's classic.

Catch Me If You Can 2002
The pacing is great and most of the jokes do land, characters are more well written than I expected, overall a very enjoyable film. But the first third was rough, the screenplay made a mistake focusing way too much on Frank's backstory and it's such a drag to crawl through those backstory sequences to get to the good parts.

The film has some emotional moments, but feels like it took forever to develop. So many underwhelmed storylines/ characters make it drag its feet way too long and from the half way point I was basically screaming inside hoping it to be over.
