    Dangerous Love

I was pulled in by the video dating technology of the late ‘80s and my main man Elliot Gould, but this is an absolutely miserable film.

Even more biting on second watch. Brilliant.

Heartbreaking and beautiful. Dying in America is a miserable, expensive experience and the hardest thing to think about, but Roemer’s film is an unassuming and quietly brilliant documentary that makes you sit with different families and appreciate what it means to live. Can’t believe something this sensitive and thoughtful was shot for WGBH.
Roemer has been so under appreciated for so long that it’s barely worth saying this is under seen.

First time watching the extended edition. Though it certainly is longer, it doesn’t add much - yet continues to be magnificent. Last time I saw it I was only a son and saw traces of myself and my father in certain characters. The small cruelties and resentments amidst the flashes of affection. Now, I see parts of myself I wish I didn’t. The symphonic cosmic elements work better for me now as the frailty of institutions show their cracks. All is temporary and tragedy falls on both the wicked and the good.
