Spky Szn #9: Still rips, closing in on twenty years later. I’ve definitely come to appreciate the black & white version the most, as it really does evoke the “thing from another planet” vibe of 50’s horror, but in full colour the thing that’s aged best here (frighteningly so) is the human horror. The “Mrs. Carmody’s” of every community are a lot easier to spot now, and it’s terrifying to think how quickly things would descend like this. Truly spine chilling horror.
