the camerawork and angles in the film subject us as viewers into a voyeur-esque position as we watch mrs chan and mr chow from behind walls or objects; we are only allowed obscured views of their rawest, most vulnerable moments. the film benefits from the audiences perversion as we, as well as the characters, get lost within their identities and those of their partners, we expect a dramatic romance movie type sequence of events only to be played brilliantly, misdirected.…

when you house the devil, your soil is sure to birth evil... i loved the colors in this film; the atmosphere retaining a sense of impending doom, a constant what's to come. the last 30 minutes was what really ended up compelling me and pulling me in, perhaps akin to how each member of the family answers the devils call..
