In what must be the first (and hastily) drafted script there’s occasionally some semblance of humour, the whiff of a potential punch line here or an imaginary alternate set up for a comedy moment there, but what little there is never really lands.

Whilst the execution on all episodes of Dekalogue and the extended versions of Love/Killing are impeccable, episode 5 of Dekalogue (or in its extended form ‘A Short Film About Killing’) remains objectively the most important and vital story of the set.
