The good things are good and the bad things are bad. I love the X Files feel and the practical alien stuff. The score is awful and the helicopter stuff looks bad. Killer cast except the lead, who even is this guy?

Honestly I think this might be Liam Hemsworth’s best work. A regular guy being hunted by cartoon villains is really fun. If it wasn’t originally on Quibi it would have gotten more attention.

Everyone kills it in this movie. I love that the first 1/3 is just a straight up Americana movie on its own, like you could have ended the movie at the prom scene and it would have made sense. I said “now we’ve got ourselves a movie” when Dafoe shows up in Mexico.

I had a really fun time. Feels like during covid when WWE did a ton of prerecorded high production value matches for Wrestlemania. I like the concept of a wrestler fighting other cultist wrestlers and giving our hero the ability to do Mortal Kombat level finishers on the bad guys, mostly cutting/ripping their heads off so blood can spray everywhere.
