For reasons I'd prefer not to get into I was listening to a loud gospel program being played in a foreign language from phone speakers in the background for most of my viewing of this. Would love to rewatch at some point where that was not the case. Nevertheless, I was enraptured, which speaks to the quality of the storytelling. Dustin Hoffman manspreading and chainsmoking in his cute little outfits was oddly very sexy to me. Wild that the only mention of Katharine Graham was her tit in the ringer. "Follow the money"--words to live by!

Look how they massacred my boy.

This one's for the motherfucking GIRLS. Layale is such a Carrie. This film has the dubious honor of having a character with my exact full name. Her man's cheating so you can't fault its realism. They should invent a "best hair" oscar and just give it to that one lesbian every year because DAMN.

After not vibing with Night Moves, I wanted to check if my love of bleak 70's detective shit, once a source of such joy, had waned. Not so! I could really go for a dried apricot, a marlboro red, and a man who would kill for his cat. The grocery clerk who fought a cop for his girl could probably carry his own movie.

Was glad to rewatch this one on the big screen, it deserves it. Was struck this time around by how the shots at the beginning, as well as the only shot Elwood and Turner appear in together, feature Elwood looking straight up, in stark contrast with how he is made to look down for most of the movie. Made a fitting goodbye to my favorite movie theater in DC, rip to E Street Cinema
