Ichi the Killer 2001
Alas, my little impromptu j-horror kick hits a stinker. Not entirely sure what I expected this to be, but this wasn’t it. It’s like someone set out to do Tarantino, but worse in basically every way. All the same mindless violence, but crasser, more pretentious, and with worse spectacle. Not a good movie.

Appreciated the inclusion of Good Country People. Strongly resented the absence of Lame Shall Enter First and extreme rushing of Revelation. The story about Flannery herself was unexpectedly sincere.
Someone needs to make a TV adaptation of Flannery’s short stories. Seeing these abbreviated versions of these stories just made me mad that I couldn’t watch a decent adaptation of Parker’s Back or something.
