feels like there was no coherent philosophy to this movie, constantly jostling between a fun sci-fi farce and a tired late stage capitalist satire. mark ruffalo and toni colette thought they were making a completely different movie (at no fault of their own), while on the other side the mickey saga was poorly explored with overuse of voiceover and no time to be interested in any character other than mickeys. Rob pattinson and BJH’s comedic direction make this movie watchable, but a big swing and a miss overall, trying to do too much while also accomplishing nothing.
