Lead by a fantastic performance from Charles Laughton as the grumpy barrister with a heart of gold, Witness for the Prosecution retells Agatha Christie’s stage play with wit and humor without feeling too frivolous. And combined with the carefully composed camera work the courtroom drama has aged wonderfully, despite some of my misgivings about the use of very 1950s mysognistic character tropes.
While the main plot takes its time to get going, the wild finale delivers a knockout blow executed…
