  i used to love mr beans growing up, but there is something a bit autistic-coded to him that made it hard to watch this now;;; but i love willem dafoe's appearance in this, that did get me laughing a lot

  watching this in a cinema full of white people made me feel weird and question whose gaze is placed upon these humans’ stories (it was so intimate that i questioned the ethics of watching this documentary film at times, even as a queer viet second-gen)

  je suis mitigée face à ce film; d’une part, je trouve que certains thèmes such as labour, elderly wisdom, internalized trauma, resilience through family bonds, and general political turmoil and horrors— were very well executed. par contre, j’étais très mal à l’aise face au white saviourism et au model minority qui se joignent pour créer l’image parfaite des immigrants vietnamiens aidés par les québécois sauveurs— comme si c’était un film pour flatter l’égo des québécois et inspirer pitié pour les…
