Ange & The Boss - Puskas in Australia

    ★★★★½

As an AFL fan, I felt like an outsider watching this doco in a packed cinema surrounded by soccer fans. But what a pleasure it was - the unlikely story of a global legend and his links to an often forgotten era in Australian sport. The story is told with heart and authenticity, and was surprisingly funny too. It sparked an interest in me to learn more about soccer in Australia, particularly the NSL, which comes across as being just as tribal and colourful as the VFL/AFL in that same era.

A high quality crime comedy with an ensemble cast to dream of. This contains some of the best one liners and Aussie slang ever recorded.

    WALL·E

    ★★½

This just didn't do it for me for some reason. The WALL-E character is lovely, and I really liked the ties with Hello Dolly, but the plot left me a bit disengaged (and at times a little confused). I also had to wonder about the motivations - for example, what made WALL-E fall for Eve (who by the way, looks strangely like one of those COVID air purifiers) in the first place.
Perhaps I'm over thinking it. Or perhaps it's because I grew up watching Terminator 2 and associate robots with nuclear apocalypse.
