  okay why am i just now figuring out that james mangold directed both this AND a complete unknown?? wow okay musician biopic king. i LOVED this movie. my mom and sister used to watch it all the time when i was little, but i obviously wasn’t old enough to fully understand or watch it. my mom and i watched it in december the same day we saw a complete unknown, and i was so obsessed with joaquin phoenix afterwards, it wasn’t even funny. would definitely watch again. love johnny cash (especially since my late grandpa loved him too).

  this movie makes me sad solely because they don't get a happy ending. i do love ryan gosling though so that makes up for it. a lot of the music is good, too, but city of stars will always be my favorite. also i'm sorry, but i'm not really an emma stone fan.
