    The Dude abides”

It’s easy to see why this film is such a cult classic; loveable characters, interesting storyline and easily the most quotable movie I’ve ever seen. This has been on my list for a while now, living in the back of my mind. I’m glad I’ve finally gotten around to it. The Big Lebowski is every genre rolled in one, the three ensemble (the dude, Walter, Donny) kept me laughing throughout any scene they composed. Even the plot…

There are no two words more harmful in the English language than: Good Job.

Whiplash paints a picture of a boy who is driven to despair and in turn success. Chazelle creates a masterpiece here with memorable characters and an even more memorable message. I felt anger, sadness, joy and a surprising amount of humor here. Every emotion is touched when watching whiplash. The intensity level is always max, and is due mostly to JK Simmons performance. He deserves every…

Nightcralwer is one of few movies that really surprised me. I also went into this film, knowing little to nothing about what to expect. It really exceeded anything I could have possible expected. From the score to the setting Nightcrawler is gorgeous. But what really sets this film apart is Gyllenhaal’s performance. Everything you witness from him on screen is masterfully acted. While he does play a less than savory role, you find yourself rooting for him in the end.…

    Midsommar

    ★★★½

I had high hopes for this one after hereditary and it really didn’t meet my expectations. This film is beautifully shot and the acting is great, I’m just not sure what was trying to be achieved in this film. Also fairly predictable. As well as the subject matter just  was not very well executed and this was just a fever dream of a movie. What really makes this rating for me is the cinematography and that alone. Midsommar is worth watching if you’re a fan of Ari Aster, but otherwise a weak story in my opinion.
