Denzel is one bad motherfucker, Pedro is reliable as always, and Ridley Scott can still direct the hell out of an action scene, but I really wish Hans Zimmer came back for this one. The biggest thing holding this back from being a classic sequel is the fact that the score pales in comparison to the original. But at the end of the day this action flick still left me entertained. 7.5/10. Good movie. Seriously though nominate Denzel for an Oscar or face his wrath.

The haters got what they f*cking deserved: a visually stunning experience that utilizes music to explore the psychology of a cult figure and the consequences of becoming one. It’s a cold reminder that Arthur was never the hero of his own story. His life is a comedy, and he’s the punch line. Some fat and a few songs could have been cut in the second act to help the pacing, but Joaquin turns in another award worthy performance that makes up for the bloat. Go in with an open mind and embrace the music, but don’t expect a happy ending.

Nolan’s space epic stands as arguably the greatest film in his impressive filmography. Long has the movie been underrated due to its intellectually taxing plot and inevitable comparisons to genre definer 2001: A Space Odyssey. Does it surpass this film? It really doesn’t matter if it does or not, because this film manages to find its own identity through the emotionally resonant father daughter relationship at it’s core. Matthew McConaughey’s everyman performance is able to ground the film even when…

One of the best biopics ever made, Oppenheimer is a culmination of every filmmaking technique Nolan has utilized over the years. It is a symphony of sight and sound, as breathtaking auditorially as it is visually. Ludwig Goransson’s score is both emotional and intense, and it harmonizes perfectly with the arresting sound design. Nolan’s favorite habit of playing with structure is back, as the film jumps backwards and forwards in time frequently, but in such a way that the audience…
