Phenomenal stuff from Sodey. He has total control over the pacing and tone, bouncing between intrigue and paranoia and way more relationship drama than expected.
The plot, while satisfying, didn’t have the Swiss watch tightness I was yearning for by the end, but maybe that’s for the best. Something Ocean’s-esque may have cheapened the already expeditious narrative.
I’m a Temple defender, so much great Harrison Ford stuff in this one, so much great action.

Well damn. First time seeing Miller’s Crossing and I’m flummoxed. There’s a lot going on behind the plot, as evidenced by Tom’s final nihilistic line. That plot, though, is breakneck, and doesn’t give the audience the chance to think more deeply than who’s double crossing who, who died, who should have died, and what the hell plays Tom has left in this rapidly devolving plan he may or may not have.
Great movie, I expect I’ll think it’s even better on rewatch, which is easy to do with this epitome of a Coens’ film.
