  I’ll preface this by saying that I hate the “keep politics out of X” take. Much of fiction, since the dawn of fiction, contains some sort of message or theme or “agenda.” Most of my favorite movies, books, games, songs, etc contain at least something likely considered to be “political” by someone. I’m also on board for a “men suck” movie believe me. 

  That said, I thought I knew what a strong message was in a movie. This movie though……

  My mom loves Bradley Cooper and gave this a C+, which gives me the courage to say that this movie was pretty disappointing for me. 

  It’s like every individual piece was good but it somehow ended up being less than the sum of its parts. Acting was great, the movie looks great, individual scenes were great, but laid out front to back I never quite connected to it. Maybe that’s on me?

  Absolutely incredible visuals and certainly worth a watch on a big TV with a nice sound system for any sci fi fan. I enjoyed looking at the movie so much that I’m compelled to give it 3 stars.

  Unfortunately though there are moments in this movie that feel like the result of a script planned as a 4 hour epic being told it could only be 2. Scenes move too fast and certain moments feel a surprisingly simple and occasionally even dumb. Still, I have a few friends that I’m going to recommend a watch to so that tells me something at least.
