It's rare that you see a film this well shot with this much humor, drama, and heart. This is loosely based on a man named Menashe's true story, who also happens to play Menashe in the movie. Have you ever really wanted to like a movie and ended up hating it? That's where I landed with this movie. The dialogue was empty, the acting was hollow, the whole visual language was pretentious. The queer and trans allegories and the meditations on suburban alienation were there, sure, but they didn't say anything interesting.
