It pisses me off that till this day Hugh Hefner is still seen as a gallant champion of woman while Larry Flynt is dismissed as sleeve if he’s thought about at all. This film is kind of a tragedy when you compare the Supreme Court of the films era to our present day version.

This film does not stand the test of time. It was Considered a beautiful love story when it was released in 1982 but now it comes off as incredibly offensive to women who are treated like shit through most of the film and only “win” when the man decides to save them from a life of poverty and sorrow by marrying them. It also plays up the age old “Madonna/whore” theroy as the female leads are either meek and supplicating…
