$6 upgrade for 70mm was so worth it lol

Really interesting, loved the performances by everyone, RDJ especially. Pretty slow and dry at some spots, it’s fine on first watch, but that plus the 3 hour run time makes re-watches hard

Watching a second time, it was really nice to take the moment and appreciate the foreshadowing and smaller animation details. Easily as much fun, if not more, on the second watch. Great story, great music, great animation, can’t wait to see it nominated for best animated this year.

Charming music, amazing cinematography as expected. Anderson continues his trend of having a work in a work. Dialogue was fast-paced, definitely a film where I would’ve liked subtitles. Didn’t like the scene title cards, they made sense in French Dispatch and The Grand Budapest Hotel, but was just jarring and took away from the film’s momentum here. Overall, still a fun movie and had fun trying to break everything down.

Kubrick is a technical genius, every shot is visually stunning and great use of innovative techniques for the time. With that being said, you can’t combine a story spanning the entirety of human history with Kubrick’s perfectionist tendencies. The movie ends up being simultaneously super rushed and painstakingly slow. While iconic, I will not be missing the multiple ten minute establishing shots.
