almost cried when suddenly realizing her name is Chantal Anne Akerman.
the scene with her mom feels so real yet so bizarre. it’s one of those moments I’d probably go back to watch again and again.
it’s exactly the same setting as when i came out to my mom (reunion, midnight, in bed, lights off, dad absent (but not naked :/)

It feels exactly like facetiming your mom and losing connection. we thought technology would bring us closer when we’re apart, but that’s not true at all.
It hurts so much when the everyday lives of those you love the most ‘boring’ routines become something distant. The names and faces remain familiar, but they’re no longer part of your world. You have your own life now. the images of passing trains, of people wandering through new york that’s your life. And sometimes, your life swallows the voices from home.
(especially like how the last shot blends into the beginning of Histoires d’Amerique.
