I have to write this review as the credits to this film roll down. Such a strong portrayal of the tension between black women and the system (religion included). I find myself drawing parallels between this story and my mother who unlike Gia had luck and a support system. It takes a village and sometimes that means letting go and carrying on the fight. Our children are the future but we are also the present and we have to persevere. I see my mother, my friends, my dad and myself in Earth Mama. Our troubles, our battles but most of all our hope and triumph.
