watched it on a bus. It’s got Lego movie humor and a whole lot of heart that quirked up millennials like me eat up. I ate it up.
the movie peaked 4 minutes in when Optimus tries to show some guards how he transforms and then it cuts to him running. That was incredible. That was the first hearty laugh the film elicited out of me, the ones that followed were just okay laughs. But that bit was the greatest joke.
I wanted this movie to really surprise me. Really come in with a solid, soulful left hook and not feel gimmicky or like a ghibli checklist with an odd, well-intended but poorly placed Pakistani flavour. It was on all accounts just that. They even did the Ghibli Food™ bit.
