Short Term 12 2013
Punched me right in the gut. Simple yet such a beautifully written film. Each character gets so much development even if some don’t get a lot of screen time or dialogue.
The 3 stories told in the film: the diarrhea incident, octopus & shark, and Marcus drinking cappuccinos are the funniest, the saddest and the most heartwarming stories respectively.
Healing alone can feel impossible, but that’s why we have to heal as communities.

Limonov: The Ballad 2024
Beautifully directed and shot. However, by the end of it I was confused why Limonov deserved this platform. Despite the efforts to be nuanced, by the end it still demonized communism and glorified Russian rebels and artists who have the right to be mad.
Ben’s Russian accent is great though.
