the one excluded, is granted the company of one promised to depart soon, yet in the suspended moment of their shared existence, time itself seems to relent, as though he has seized its flow, the moment of departure escapes liuben entirely, unnoticed, unfelt, as though time itself spared him its cruelty. yet for victor, time becomes a conspirator, a relentless tormentor, forcing him to witness every excruciating detail. he is made to to see the body lowered into the earth, before his very eyes. i liked how liuben, embraced his queerness with an unhesitating grace. anyways, i love arson.
though the media portrays it as a horror film or a feminist tale of revenge, i wonder if there are analogous representation for men, where they’re depicted being raped and beaten, stripped of their humanity. intended solely for consumption by a male audience, even under the guise of highlighting the plight of women. why must we witness the brutalization of women for it to be significant? why are women merely spectacles to be consumed at every turn
