Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team 1996
Gundam is like if Star Wars actually had something to say beyond some vague California hippie spirituality shit. You can tell Star Wars fans are low IQ by how the one movie that did attempt to have a message caused half of them to freak out and cyberbully the director. War is good for absolutely nothing. The Devil's Trap 1962
It’s Bergman if he cared more about communism than philosophy. The landlord and church conspire against a peasant who actually knows way more than them about how to run things. The way the church is at first used and manipulated to the regent’s scheme and then becomes an active partner is not subtle, but it’s done tastefully. It’s a visual treat as well, extremely well composed and has some camera tricks that are ahead of their time. Great soundtrack and the costumes are well done, especially the Regent’s foppish frilly shirt getups.
