  It’s really beautiful to be living in a time where a new wave of auteur/art house horror cinema is becoming more and more prominent. Artists like Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, Jordan Peele, and now Tate Taylor are really working hard to dismantle the stigma around the genre that marks it as being too campy or gruesome to be taken seriously or to deliver thoughtful commentary on the world. Beautiful, poignant, and artfully crafted, Ma provides viewers with an insightful meditation on what I like to call stranger danger.
