This movie gets a rating this high mostly because Jeff Bridges, at this age (45…Hickok was killed at a hard-lived 39), was born to play Wild Bill Hickok. The movie is also wonderfully costumed and set. It is even well – directed insofar as the action sequences are suitably entertaining. We went knowing the Tomato ratings were good, but had no idea what to expect and were more than pleasantly surprised. This is a terrific little movie. I say “little” because it’s the movie equivalent of a bottle episode, but in an entirely positive way.
