I enjoyed this to start with, but after a while it felt like it fell right back into generic boring slasher territory. I love the concept but the execution just left a lot to be desired, not to mention the pretty glaring plot hole of who the fuck is filming these movies in universe???

Much to my surprise I actually found myself somewhat charmed and entertained by this! The leads have cute chemistry and it’s generally quite fun with the holiday themed stuff, even though I do think some of the comedy is next level terrible. I’ve seen some complaints about the killer reveal but honestly it works for me, it’s pretty different and I feel like it’s rare for a slasher to be able to do that nowadays. Generally it’s probably a bit formulaic but sometimes I just enjoy an entertaining slasher.

That being said, I did not pay for this and fuck spyglass!

You all know how much I love murder mystery stuff and I strongly dislike how little Batman’s detective work has been focused on in media outside of comics, so it was a pleasant surprise to me that this movie had both. There’s some serious Seven vibes here and the story is gripping the whole way through. I loved seeing Batman learning how to become a detective better

All of the characters are voiced really well and it’s nice to see…

    Mike Flanagan really directed:

-Three of the most emotionally rich horror shows you’ll ever see with stories that explore themes that aren’t usually explored this deeply in horror projects
-A sequel to The Shining (one of the best horror films EVER) that manages to be faithful to the book it’s based on and the universe it takes place in
-An adaptation of a Stephen King book that was considered unable to be put onto the screen
-A solid, original, creative slasher movie
    -Several other original horror projects
