Very fun movie! Why did any of the things happen? I do not know. But I do know that this movie is quirky and light hearted and fun. It was cool to see the Wes Anderson style shots in their infancy. They weren’t consistent throughout the movie, but each time they came up it was like !!! that’s a Wes Anderson shot!!!

It’s kind of giving Moon but more.

It’s also in a way Rob’s second vampire thing, he never ages in the four years he’s being regenerated because his body reverts to the she he was when they did that first scan every time he’s printed. Very vampire.

Love to see Robert Pattinson be a little weirdo freak. Mickey 17 gives the same energy as my favorite work of his, Robert Pattinson Desperately Needs a NYC Hot Dog.

Marianne traverses the river Styx on a rowboat with 4 dudes rocking the boat so raucously that her canvas falls into the water. She arrives to a dank, empty manor, strips naked and sits in front of the fireplace smoking a pipe while her canvases dry. The shot lingers for longer than you feel it should.

Once the keeper of hell leaves, the manor is a utopia just for the three young women, one where the expectations of society don't…

    wooooahhhhhh
Gay! It’s giving English period piece x Japanese aesthetics! Double cross! Betrayal! Double cross! Foreshadowing! Someone with realllyyyyy cold appendages? Due to their training? Brown rice in a ball with a cockroach in it vs white rice. Eating a single grain of white rice at a time.

Makes me think of the English as the colonizers for a large portion of the globe and Japan’s role as colonizer of Korea during the time period during which this movie takes place. Not sure exactly what significance this has. But it’s probably some.
