Viduthalai: Part I 2023
A politically mature film. The movie focuses on the conflict between Tamil People's Army and the Indian government. It draws parallel to current events. Screenplay is quite slow in the first half and picks up speed in the latter half. The world building and cinematography is proper. Acting is superb from Soori and the rest of the cast. Sheds light on issues with police brutality and imperialism especially with the indigenous. Felt the editing of scenes to be weird at places but direction was good. Excited for the second part. Overall if you like Vetrimaaran's political outlook, you would enjoy this film.

A class-conscious film made with love. Lighthearted and filled with emotion. Rooted in true events from the director's past. Great direction, screenplay and cinematography. Top notch acting from the cast, especially the younger protagonists. The musical score complements the movie's world very well. [Insert Scorsese thatha lifting his hands.]
