“Spoilers” !!!
It’s a solid film in every sense of the word, but I couldn’t quite digest how little it explored Subbulakshmi’s life after her marriage to Arjun. I would’ve loved for the story to take us deeper into her post-marriage journey, giving us more insight into that phase of her life.
I sincerely hope for more from ISHQ, but its comedy pleasantly surprised me. The chemistry between Kajal (Kajol) and Raja (Aamir Khan) far outshines what we see on screen, while Ajay (Ajay Devgn) comes off as a red flag with his lack of confidence and low self-esteem. The script barely allows for any healthy dynamic, which is a shame. Had Kajal and Raja’s bond not been so sisterly, a true romance might have elevated the film. Ultimately, I’d give it a 3.8 out of 5 -its moments feel distinctly B-grade, and without the clichés, it could’ve easily been a ‘90s blockbuster
