This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
After finally rewatching this for the first time, I’m really struck by optimism of the film. But maybe that’s just me. I grew up and have been to many churches that are majority Mexican or White and I feel like if this film were in those communities, the film would’ve ended on a more sad note of them getting more congregants. I can’t speak to the culture referenced in the film but if this was white Jesus? Trump’s Jesus? They come back so strong.
