this movie captures the grotesque and haunting way in which beauty standards shape and destroy the mind and body and entity of all women, but in this case especially in the misogynistic heart of every single ageist behaviour towards them and the industries built around that hate.Β
neither did it escape from my analysis how even sue - who is the supposedly perfectly young and therefore gorgeous result of elizabethβs continuous death - also falls victim eventually of the sameβ¦
writing this between blurs of tears but truly what a fresh breath of air in terms of love and family around queerness.Β
the theme of discovery and mythology and stories that links families is all reunited in one single theme: love. in all of its forms. beautiful, never ending, glorious and curious and free.Β
there is such a warmth in this movie that tastes like memories and discovery, something so beautiful about seeing another lesbian woman so connected to theβ¦
captivating, spectral and spectacular, nostalgic yet so modern.Β
this movie is breathtaking.Β
from the nostalgic feeling of those movies you cherish you get reward with a newer and more colourful (ironically with a more cold toned photography palette) setting, of a fantastic movie with a fantastic and beautiful plot.Β
the stop motion is fluid yet cartoonish enough to blend beautifully between reality and magical artistry which sets the mood for the movie even better.Β
