A slow burn and slowly twisting knife at the same time. I haven't seen something take so much glee in making it's central character suffer, quite like this one does. Sebastian Stan has supreme sad sack energy here. The ending is hysterical. I also really love the cinematography, there is a great style to this that made it much more fun and unsettling. The score really deserves more praise as well.

Tense as hell and surprisingly bold. With a weaker director, this could be a generic bit of oscar bait. That is absolutely not the case here. Terrific shot composition, a pretty good score and a superb ensemble make this a must watch and one of my favorites of 2024. Plus, the ending is perfect, I was genuinely surprised at how this concluded.

It's better in a way than other Marvel films. It has some visual flair, thanks to Rami having a distinct style. It however does not prevent it from feeling generic like most other Marvel films do. The screenplay is bare bones. That keeps the pace moving, but it doesn't bother to explore character, themes or really much of anything and there isn't really a good reason for it.

Rami squeezed in some of his tone into it, so there are…

It drags toward the end half, but this was mostly pretty entertaining. Austin Butler is actually worth the hype here, a surprisingly strong performance. The same cannot be said for Tom Hanks, the accent is unbearable. It's somehow too silly and not silly enough to be good.

The modern music is also obnoxious, it really doesn't add anything valuable. It's just distracting. Other than that, I didn't hate this nearly as much as I hate everything else Baz Lurhman has made.
