Candleshoe 1977
It's amazing how incredibly talented Jodie Foster was, even at such a young age. She's clearly a movie star, right out of the gate. Candleshoe is an above-average Disney family adventure. The gothic setting combined with spooky mystery and an excellent cast lead by the combined star power of Foster and Niven gives the whole production a big boost.

An FBI serial killer thriller that works much better when it strays from that formula for stretches of surreal oniric horror. For the first half, I was uncertain what was going on and was frankly scared shitless. But, the longer things go, the more secrets must be revealed and explained. And all of the surreal elements and ideas don't cram too well into the not-so-impressive third act exposition bomb. At least it all stayed fairly disturbing up until the end.…

All hail Companion, the first gotta-see movie of the year, a perfect antidote to the upcoming Valentine's Day commercial blitz, and hopefully a cultural touchstone that will piss off a whole lot of the douchebags ruining things lately. Go in *cold* with as little foreknowledge as possible. Lots of wild twists and turns await in this twisted genre mashup with a wicked satirical edge. Go see Companion with an excited crowd and get ready to laugh and scream a lot. This was too much goddamn fun to spoil!
