I have memories of my grandmother telling me the story of Solomon Northup when I was young. I had never gotten around to watching the movie until now and all I can say is that it's a stark reminder on how important the raw, deep recounting of historical events are. Beautiful, historically accurate rendition of a true story. A reminder to have compassion and that kids remember and hold onto the lessons they learn when they're young. I'm just glad my grandmother isn't alive to see how we live in a country where we'd have people erase this history.

Definitely has that Robert Eggers feel. Disturbing, suspenseful. A surprising performance from Lily-Rose Depp; the deviation of Ellen's relationship with Count Orlok from the original was a beneficial choice. An unsettling performance as Orlok from Bill Skarsgård.
The ending scene when the sunlight kills Orlok was probably the most standout moment for me. I was expecting him to burn into ash or maybe turn into a puff of smoke like in the original. But the blood seeping out of every…
Gandalf was cool. Scary. Had no idea what was happening half the time but it was chill. Butterflies. Probably watch sober.
