Hmmm, this was very accessible and technically well-executed but I found it a bit surface level. I was expecting to be emotionally bowled over but i was left feeling flat. The inner lives of the characters didn’t feel fully fleshed out, and Eunice’s trajectory —particularly her decision to pursue law in the films latter half—relied on janky exposition and a rushed, Hollywood-biopic-style scatter of facts and pacing. The flashes forward in time were not needed in my opinion—Jaime audibly groaned…

A Real Pain 2024
A 3.25 if i'm being really honest....something didn't quite hit for me. Kieran Culkin plays Kieran Culkin with his usual chaotic charm which certainly engages! Though, some of the script felt emotionally heavy-handed and clunky. Although, "You light up a room and then you shit on everything inside of it" is a banger. Cinematography was really great! Poland is way more beautiful than I'd imagined!
