I've always found Joker a difficult film to evaluate. Widely celebrated upon its release, and nominated for several academy awards including best adapted screenplay, it can be fairly critiqued as a film negatively haunted by the looming influences it draws heavily from, a patchwork of recombined fragments and facsimiles of Scorsese’s early films that suffers hugely through its overwhelming similarities and comparative shortcomings.
