A major improvement over Phantom Menace in terms of sctipt and story, however the direction, specifically in the acting and cinematography departments, is just horrible. The action is also not great, especially in the final Dooku fight scene.

I'm conflicted with this film. On the one hand, its a horrible continuation to the franchise, messing up the tone of what was a relatively grounded series. However from another perspective it's a fun sci-fi adventure film that ought not to be taken too seriously. As a standalone film it works, but it does require some knowledge from the previous films, specifically Raiders of the Lost Ark. As a continuation I'd give it a 2/5, but as a standalone I'd give it a 3.5/5.

This film bounds back from the failures of Temple of Doom with a story that explores the characters in depth, as well as offering a fun adventure film.
