    I would consider myself a connoisseur of both b movies and horror as a whole. I’m not as well versed in most other genres compared to these two (aside maybe from crime or thriller). One b horror classic that has long eluded me would be Sam Raimi’s controversial breakout film The Evil Dead.

    In the Summer of 1986 John Carpenter’s film  Big Trouble in Little China was released and immediately met with negative reactions from both critics and fans. People were confused as to why Carpenter, a director who made serious action/horror films, was making a silly bmovie esque schlock fest.     Horror is perhaps my all time favorite genre. The experience of a scare exhilarates me more than mostly anything else. Silence of The Lambs is one of my favorite horror films, it’s cool, it’s clever, and it’s really fucking scary. It was for those reasons that I decided to watch Manhunter, the predecessor to that film, which has received a cult classic status recently.
